nossa morte

Welcome to the debut issue of Nossa Morte!

You may be wondering why we started this e-zine.  Small press publishers seem to come and go every day.  So why add to the heap?  We were hoping to take a really specific approach here:  to pick out well-written stories that stand out from the masses and give the reader something new.  If you’ve submitted a story to us you probably know that we quickly reject anything that seems common.  If it’s a subject or premise that’s been done to death, you won’t see it in the pages that follow.  We’ve received some well-written stories by great writers, but if they harped on those same plots we’ve all read before, as hard as it was, we had to toss them.

The result of all this pickiness is, we hope, an e-zine that you’ll want to follow on a regular basis.

You’ve also probably noticed that this website is free of excessive graphics and bells and whistles.  The simple design should focus all your attention on what really matters here – the material within that many people worked hard to produce.  At the same time though, we wanted the experience to have as close to the feel of reading an actual magazine as possible.  Let us know what you think of the layout.

For our debut issue I think we’ve lined up a terrific roster of stories by some very talented writers.  For a new e-zine, I think we really lucked out with the quality of submissions.  We tried to pick the very best and I assure you it wasn’t easy.  Our goal was not just to fill these pages, but to make you want to read it cover to cover.

In addition to the wonderful fiction and book reviews, our first issue also features an interview with Jack Ketchum.  We’re big fans of his work and we’re absolutely thrilled by his generosity in sharing some time to answer our questions.  We couldn’t think of a better way to break in the e-zine than with an interview with one of the best names in horror.

We think you’ll like what you’ll find in the pages to follow.  Either way, we’d love to hear what you think so drop us an email with your thoughts.   And we hope you’ll come back for the next issue.  Enjoy!

And so it begins…
